New observations of the supergiant star Antares have given us the most detailed image ever taken of a star other than our Sun. Read more here:

Antares is a star that is dying and expected to end in a massive supernova explosion in the next few hundred thousand years. It gets its name from ancient Greek, meaning 'equal to Mars'.
